Air conditioning is largely responsible for the need to build big new power stations that are used only for a small amount of the time of the year in peak demand periods.  We all pay.

• Avoid using air con if at all possible, install insulation and better ventilation first. 
• Airconditioning units should not face the sun ie north or west, unless shaded.
